List of programs funded by your donations:
- Replenishing native trees and plants to entice more species of birds and wildlife and maintain the longevity of the Nature Preserve.
- Removal program of non-native plant and shrubs. This is long-term plan to change over non-native to native species so as not to interrupt the bird habitat’s food and nesting environments.
- Fire cuts twice a year of the 11.9-acre property to protect against forest fires during dry seasons, which are very common in our local area.
- Ongoing monthly maintenance of landscape areas, the nature trail, street access, and chickee hut. These areas require attention to assure that visitors are as safe as possible and enjoy their visit to the Preserve.
- Operating costs associated with federal, state and local regulations to maintain our 501(c)(3) status, insurance and general marketing activities.
These activities add up to an annual budget of between $40,000 and $60,000 per year depending on what has to be done.
Any donation you contribute will go towards our being able to continue our protection and preservation of this important asset to the Marco Island community and our many annual visitors.
