In keeping with the mission of the Marco Island Nature Preserve and Bird Sanctuary, educating the public about the importance of conservation and the protection of wildlife is a high priority. Since 2012, our organization has presented educational outreach programs to preschool and elementary school students throughout Collier County, as well as conservation awareness programs for local civic organizations.
Young children are introduced to native plants and wildlife that are found in their local environment. They also learn basic conservation practices, why conservation is important, and how they can participate, even at a young age, in preserving the environment and protecting plant and wildlife.
Presentations to local civic associations raise awareness of the Marco Island Nature Preserve’s diverse native and Florida-friendly plants, bird species, and wildlife. These programs also emphasize the importance of preserving this beautiful green space on an island experiencing continuous development.
